Notes

Burning bush (Euonymus alatus) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Bees and birds visit this dense shrub, and it tolerates drought. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It reaches 15 to 20 feet tall, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Chokeberry, Emerald Green arborvitae, and Christmas fern.

Native range

Northeastern Asia to Middle China.
