'Szukis' American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana 'Szukis') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Its naturally compact habit suits small spaces and containers. It is grown for fresh eating, syrups, jellies, ice cream, and pies. It sets some fruit alone, but a male tree nearby gives you more.

Pairs well with Apple, Bottlebrush buckeye, and Spotted beebalm.
