Notes
Tall thoroughwort (Eupatorium altissimum) is a perennial for borders, meadows, naturalized areas, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. White flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It also tolerates drought.
Pairs well with Indian grass, Lanceleaf coreopsis, and Prairie Sun rudbeckia.
Native range
Central-eastern and southeastern United States.
