Notes

'Variegatus' rock cotoneaster (Cotoneaster horizontalis 'Variegatus') is a shrub for rock gardens, ground cover, borders, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly to 12 to 18 inches tall and spreads 36 to 48 inches wide. Bees visit the spring flowers, and birds visit the plant too. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Autumn fern, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Ornamental onion.
