Notes

'Veilchenblau' rose (Rosa 'Veilchenblau') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist soil of most types. The tall, climbing canes have few or no thorns. Fragrant purple-crimson-violet flowers open in early to late summer and draw butterflies and bees. Johann Christoph Schmidt bred it.

Pairs well with Nelly Moser clematis, Casa Blanca lily, and Ornamental onion.
