Notes

'Verrone's Obsidian' dahlia (Dahlia 'Verrone's Obsidian') is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its burgundy blooms open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer rarely make it their first choice. You can tuck it into a sunny bed for rich color.

Pairs well with Coneflower, Montbretia, and Sneezeweed.
