Notes

Vintage rose bergenia (Bergenia crassifolia) is a perennial for borders, ground cover, shade gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. The evergreen leaves keep color through the cold months, and pink flowers open in winter and spring. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Christmas fern, and Fragrant Bouquet hosta.
