Notes

Winter begonia (Bergenia ciliata) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. Pink flowers with rose-pink calyces bloom in winter and spring, and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The evergreen leaves stay on the plant all year and it grows 9 to 12 inches tall.

Pairs well with Jacob’s ladder, Hicksii yew, and Greig's tulip.
