Notes

'Vintage Wine' coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Vintage Wine') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Red-purple petals surround dark red-tipped centers from early to late summer, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer tend to pass it by. It is drought tolerant and salt tolerant.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Butterfly milkweed, and Nodding onion.
