Notes

Wild coffee (Psychotria nervosa) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bright red berrylike fruit contrast well with the dark green leaves. Conspicuous veins give the evergreen leaves a wavy, textured look.

Pairs well with Simpson's stopper, Pigeon plum, Seagrape, and Christmas fern.
