Notes

'Wildfire' black gum (Nyssa sylvatica 'Wildfire') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. New growth comes in red, and the fall color is brilliant. Bees and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Pin oak, Cinnamon fern, Sedge, and Bottlebrush buckeye.
