Notes

Winter hazel (Corylopsis sinensis) is a shrub for borders, hedges, accents, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pale yellow flowers with orange anthers open in early to late spring and smell sweet. It grows fast and can reach 10 to 15 feet tall and wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Christmas fern, Coralbells, and Paperbark maple.
