Notes
Wood lily (Lilium philadelphicum) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and woodland edges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Upright red-orange flowers with purplish-brown spots sit on a stem with whorled leaves. Hummingbirds visit the blooms. Bulbs may need protection from rodents, and you need several bulbs if you want seed.
Pairs well with Little bluestem, Eastern pasqueflower, and Dense blazing star.
