Notes

'Yehuda' loquat (Eriobotrya japonica 'Yehuda') is a shrub or small tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. The large fruit have yellow-orange flesh, mild sweetness, and a small seed. It is grown for fresh eating, jams, and jellies. Fragrant white flowers open in winter and draw bees and hummingbirds, so plant it in a sunny, protected spot.

Pairs well with Duke blueberry, Opalescent apple, and Elfin mother of thyme.
