Notes

Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) is a shrub for food gardens, specimen planting, privacy screens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The fragrant white flowers bloom in winter, when a cold snap can hurt flowering. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Plant two clones in a sunny, protected spot to improve fruit set.

Pairs well with Strawberry tree, Pomegranate, Pineapple sage, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.

China and Japan.
