Notes

'Abeekins' peony (Paeonia 'Abeekins') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant double flowers are ruby red, with large guard petals around a center of narrow, pointed petals. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Benjamin W. Guppy bred it in 1929.

Pairs well with Autumn Frost hosta, Bobo hydrangea, and Switchgrass.
