Notes

'Akron' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Akron') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers are big and solid red, with staminodes edged in cream. William Henry Krekler bred it, and it grows to a medium height.

Pairs well with White snakeroot, Cinnamon fern, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
