Notes

'Albus' sweet William (Dianthus barbatus 'Albus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It forms a dense mound 6 to 9 inches tall.

Pairs well with Caradonna sage, Peony, and Love-in-a-mist.
