Notes

American mountain ash (Sorbus americana) is a tree for specimen and pollinator garden use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Small white flowers form flat-topped clusters, and bright coral-red berries follow that attract birds. The leaves turn golden-orange in fall. Protect young stems and thin bark from winter browsers, and watch for fire blight and borers.

Pairs well with White ash, Common snowberry, Indian grass, and Nodding onion.
