Notes
'Annabelle' hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle') is a shrub for borders, hedges, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Large white flower heads age to green over time, and it blooms on new wood, so you can cut it back to the ground in winter. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers.
Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem and Red twig dogwood.
