Notes

Apple (Malus baccata) is a tree for specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. White flowers open in mid to late spring, and they are fragrant. Give it plenty of room because it grows wide as well as tall. It makes a good focal point in a large yard.

Pairs well with Siberian squill, Red fescue, and Golden Globe American arborvitae.

Native range

China, Japan, and Russian Far East.
