Notes

'Argosy' peony (Paeonia 'Argosy') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Fairly large, semi-double yellow flowers with red flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. It may die back to the ground in winter, but it blooms on new wood. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Foxglove, Garden phlox, and Queen of Night tulip.
