Notes

'Astarte' peony (Paeonia 'Astarte') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant single blooms are ivory flushed pink, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Prof. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with June hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Queen of Night tulip.
