Notes

'Athelstane' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Athelstane') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. William Brown bred it. The large, cupped, double blooms are an unusual shade of lavender-pink and have a pleasing fragrance. They rise well above the deep green foliage.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Cinnamon fern, and African marigold.
