Notes

'Atropurpurea Nana' Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Atropurpurea Nana') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows dense and low, reaching 12 to 24 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide, with fall color. It sits low on the menu for deer. Bees and birds visit it, and it tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Lavender cotton, Caramel coral bells, and Mount Everest ornamental onion.
