Notes

'Austriana' rose (Rosa 'Austriana') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and loamy or clay soil. It grows 20 to 24 inches tall and wide with a spreading habit and dark green leaves. Dark red blooms open in late spring, again in early to late summer, and in early autumn. Bees visit the flowers, and Hans Jurgen Evers bred it in 1996.

Pairs well with Niobe clematis, Big bluestem, and Star Gazer lily.
