Notes

'Balbeempur' spotted beebalm (Monarda didyma 'Balbeempur') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to wet, clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It forms a clumping, fragrant mound that grows at a moderate pace. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Switchgrass, and Joe Pye weed.
