Notes

'Balsomsed' coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Balsomsed') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Orange-red petals surround an orange brown center cone from early to late summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Moonshine yarrow, Prairie dropseed, Nodding onion, and Indian Summer rudbeckia.
