Notes

Bishop's hat (Epimedium leptorrhizum) is a perennial for borders, containers, and ground cover, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The white flowers have rose pink and lilac tints, and bees visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Once settled, it handles dry spells.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Autumn fern, and Rozanne crane's-bill.
