Notes
'Black Beauty' western coneflower (Rudbeckia occidentalis 'Black Beauty') is a perennial with burgundy-black cones ringed in yellow stamens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil. Bees visit the blooms, and birds will appreciate the seeds. Deer tend to browse other plants first. The dried heads add winter interest on tall, upright stems.
Pairs well with Sedge, Queen Sophia French marigold, and Shrub rose.
