Notes

'Blue Danube' stokes’ aster (Stokesia laevis 'Blue Danube') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Blue flowers with white centers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn, and butterflies and bees visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The plant stays under 18 inches tall.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Casa Blanca lily.
