Notes

Stokes' aster (Stokesia laevis) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy or loamy soil. Blue flower heads reach 2 to 4 inches across and draw butterflies and bees. It self-sows readily, so you can share the seedlings or pull extras. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Little bluestem, and Hardy hibiscus.
