Notes

Blue monkshood (Aconitum uncinatum) is a perennial for borders, woodland gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Hooded, violet-blue flowers open in loose clusters on a weak stem, so you may want to give it support. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms in summer and autumn.

Pairs well with Red trillium, Bowman's root, and Reed grass.
