Notes
Botanical tulip (Tulipa heweri) is a bulb that brings yellow color to the spring garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Yellow or ochre flowers have orange on the outer petals, and each stem carries 2-3 blooms in early to late spring. The flowers open wide on warm sunny days. Give it good drainage and it will naturalize when happy.
Pairs well with Snowdrop, Cheerfulness daffodil, Dr. Alexander Fleming peony, and Sensitive fern.
Native range
Afghanistan, Baghlan and Parwan provinces, higher slopes of the Salang Pass in the Hindu Kush mountains, and endemic.
