Notes

'Caliente' rose (Rosa 'Caliente') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and loamy or clay soil. Velvet red buds open to bright, fire engine red blooms with pointed petals, and they smell sweet. It blooms again and again, and bees visit the flowers. Frank A. Benardella bred it in 2005.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Rock rose, and Nelly Moser clematis.
