Notes

Candia tulip (Tulipa saxatilis) is a bulb for naturalized plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Rosy pink to pale lilac flowers open from early to late spring. The plants stay small at 6 to 9 inches tall and wide. Plant them in drifts so the blooms make a soft carpet of color at the base of taller plants.

Pairs well with Siberian squill, Spanish bluebell, and Sedge.

Native range

East Aegean Islands, Crete, and Turkey.
