Notes

Spanish bluebell (Hyacinthoides hispanica) is a bulb for woodland gardens, naturalized areas, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Drooping, bell-shaped, violet-blue flowers appear in spring and have blue anthers. The clumps grow fast and spread to fill a space. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Lungwort, Carlton daffodil, and Sedge.

Native range

SW Europe and N Africa.
