Notes

'Cardinal' peony (Paeonia 'Cardinal') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The single, fragrant blooms are bright red with deep pink streaks and attract butterflies and bees. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it.

Pairs well with Sweet William, Stargazer lily, and Nodding onion.
