Notes

'Cérès' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Cérès') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, light pink blooms have scarlet flecks in the center and open early in the season. Verdier bred it in 1860. The dark green leaves have red veins and stay full on strong, tall stems.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Black Parrot tulip, and Sensitive fern.
