Notes

'Chempion' peony (Paeonia 'Chempion') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, double, dark red flowers appear one per stem, and the thick stems need no support. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Gorobets bred it in 1984.

Pairs well with Eastern columbine, Rainforest Sunrise hosta, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
