Notes
Chocolate cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguineus) is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. The fragrant brownish-red blooms appear in summer and again in autumn, and butterflies and hummingbirds visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. It handles dry spells well.
Pairs well with Fountain grass, Snapdragon, and Delphinium.
