Notes

'Claudia' peony (Paeonia 'Claudia') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The semi-double goblet flowers open cherry-red and age to salmon-pink on tall, erect stems. Saunders bred it in 1944.

Pairs well with Rainforest Sunrise hosta, Nodding onion, and Virginia rose.
