Notes

'Columnare' red maple (Acer rubrum 'Columnare') is a tree for specimen planting, accent, privacy screen, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows at a rapid rate into a narrow oval shape. Red flowers open in spring and attract bees, butterflies, and birds. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with White fringe tree, Northern bayberry, and Sensitive fern.
