Notes

'Autumn Flame' red maple (Acer rubrum 'Autumn Flame') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Greenish yellow flowers open in spring and attract bees, butterflies, and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows at a rapid rate into an oval shape.

Pairs well with River birch, Spicebush, Cinnamon fern, and Joe-pyeweed.
