Notes

'October Glory' red maple (Acer rubrum 'October Glory') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows at a rapid rate into an oval shape, and bees, butterflies, and birds visit it. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Give it plenty of room to grow.

Pairs well with River birch, Spicebush, Sedge, and Joe-pyeweed.
