Notes
'Corn Poppy' common poppy (Papaver rhoeas 'Corn Poppy') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, and containers. It shrugs off cool spells and light frost, though a hard freeze will damage it. This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Red blooms open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It stays 3 to 4 inches tall, so it suits the front of a bed.
Pairs well with Maiden pink, Mammoth sunflower, and Foxtail barley.
