Notes

Maiden pink (Dianthus deltoides) is a perennial for borders, containers, rock gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It forms a clumping mat of gray-green evergreen leaves that grows quickly. Pink flowers are fragrant and attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blonde Ambition blue grama, Blanket flower, and Limeglow creeping juniper.

Europe, NW. Balkan Pen., and Sicilia.
