Notes

'American Legion Poppy' common poppy (Papaver rhoeas 'American Legion Poppy') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, and meadows. It shrugs off cool spells and light frost, though a hard freeze will damage it. This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and bees and butterflies visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall.

Pairs well with Cornflower, Caradonna sage, White sagebrush, and Purple Sensation ornamental onion.
