Notes

'Dark Star' heather (Calluna vulgaris 'Dark Star') is an evergreen shrub for borders, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows at a moderate rate and has an ascending habit. Bees visit the blooms in summer and again in autumn. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Japanese barberry, Bristlecone pine, and Big bluestem.
