Notes

'Darkness' heather (Calluna vulgaris 'Darkness') is a shrub for borders, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It stays evergreen and blooms in summer and autumn, which draws bees. Deer tend to pass it by. Plant it where its upright shape can show.

Pairs well with Bristlecone pine, Big bluestem, and Japanese barberry.
